Jonathan Sands

Jonathan was appointed CEO of Elmwood at the age of 26 and ran a management buyout of the company in 1988. Elmwood was the lead consultant behind the FA 2006 World Cup bid and played a fundamental role in the turnaround of ASDA in the early 1990s. He became Chairman of Elmwood in January 2000.

Jonathan also co-founded Design Yorkshire and raised around £200,000 to stimulate the use of better design throughout the region. He was appointed a member of the Design Council in 2000.

Jonathan Sands chairs the Design Skills Advisory Panel, an expert group of design employers and educators set up in partnership with Creative and Cultural Skills - the industry-led campaigning organisation that looks after skills development in the creative industries. The panel is responsible for putting together a range of proposals for creating a more professional, joined-up design industry.
