Design Sense Debate
In
a recent survey 80 per cent of us claimed to have an environmental
conscience, but only 3 per cent of us consider an appliance's
environmental impact when shopping. And what about business
how far up the corporate agenda is sustainable thinking? Alex
Cutler of SustainAbility, the strategic management consultancy
and think-tank for sustainable development in business, Chris
Hewett Senior Research Fellow at The Institute for Public Policy
Research, Robin Murray Visiting Research Associate at the London
School of Economics and author of Creating Wealth from Waste and
Charlie Paton whose Seawater Greenhouse won the first Design Sense
award, discuss the challenge of building sustainability into products,
services and business strategies with Design Museum Director,
Paul Thompson.
Design Sense is the Design Museum's annual £40,000 award for sustainability
in product design and architecture, sponsored by Corus and supported
by the Rufford Foundation. The award winner will be announced
on 16 November 2000 and an exhibition of the 12 shortlisted entries
opens at the Design Museum from 17 November 2000 to 21 January
