New
Year's Honours

The
importance of design has been recognised in the New Year's
Honours, with two leading figures from the Design Council
included in the Honours List.
Design
Council Chairman, Christopher Frayling receives a knighthood
for services to art and design education. Sir Christopher
is also Rector of the Royal College of Art.The Design Council's
Chief Executive, Andrew Summers, is awarded the CMG in recognition
of his work in promoting UK design internationally. Over
the past few years, Andrew Summers has led the highly influential
Millennium Products initiative. This has involved exhibitions
and events, showcasing successful UK design and innovation,
throughout Europe, Asia and South America.
Andrew
Summers said: 'As much as I am honoured personally to received
the CMG, I believe the award recognizes the work and growing
influence of the Design Council'.
