| Airline seat - Projects |
The programme provides a platform to develop your own educational project in response to the ideas and issues raised by Seymour Powells economy airline seat proposal. Here are some projects which may be relevant. You may also think of others:
Do a SWOT analysis of the new economy airline seat designed by Seymour Powell. Put yourself in Kirk Albrows shoes at Swiss Air and decide if you would commission the new seats from Avio Interiors
In the programme Dick Powell talks of the early romance of air travel. Think of imaginative, creative and space-effective new ways to create a sense of glamour, luxury and romance within todays commercial holiday jet - your design ideas can be product, interior or service-based
Putting the new Seymour Powell flip-up seats at the heart of your scheme, create an economy holiday sub-brand for Swiss Air (like British Airways and Go). Name and brand your new airline and express through identity, ticketing, uniforms etc its links with its Swiss Air parent
Devise a creative marketing campaign to promote the new-style seating on Swiss Air flights as a key passenger benefit, using at least three different media (eg posters, TV, internet)
Design your own better airline seat based on your own experience of economy air travel and an analysis of user needs, taking your ideas to 3D model stage
Think ahead to 2040 and describe in words and pictures what an aircraft interior might look like then
Go back
to Avio Interiors and make a business-focused design management
case for a parallel project which redesigns seating and cabins
on European railways.
