What are the new challenges for business?

200 leading businesses contribute to new Design Council report

Wednesday 13 October 1999

Leading UK businesses are to contribute to a groundbreaking new Design Council report, with the participation of Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Stephen Byers, as part of Design in Business Week ’99.

Business strategists John Kao (Idea Factory), Martin Hayward (Henley Centre) and Charles Hampden-Turner (Judge Institute) will start the ball rolling with keynote speeches in front of a nationwide audience at the BFI IMAX Cinema in London at 9am on Monday 18 October.

The event is being webcast live to thousands of SMEs via the Enterprise Zone website (www.enterprisezone.org.uk). It is also being broadcast via a live satellite link to four dedicated regional events, hosted by:

  • Business Link West at BT’s offices in Bristol
  • Business Link County Durham at The Riverside in Chester-Le-Street
  • Business Link London City Partners at The Circus Space in Hoxton
  • Business Link Hertfordshire at GlaxoWellcome’s offices in Stevenage

Around 200 business leaders will then contribute, via 20 separate workshops, to a Design Council report being produced with the participation of Mr Byers at the end of Design in Business Week ’99.
