As the success of our economy becomes increasingly dependent upon the creative use of information, the importance of design as a business process has never been greater.

As Tony Blair emphasised recently: ‘Our success depends on how well we exploit our most valuable assets: our knowledge, skills and creativity. These are the key to designing high-value goods and services and advanced business practices. They are at the heart of a modern, knowledge-driven economy’.

We work closely with many parts of the Department of Trade and Industry and its related organisations, including the Future and Innovation Unit, the Competitiveness Division and the Small Business Service, to ensure that design is explained, promoted and supported through every means possible - and all this is informed by our research programme and our Innovation Stories database.
